Monroe: Who Assaults Someone At a Food Truck Festival?
This is a developing story.
Over the weekend, an incident occurred at the Food Truck Festival.
A sentence I never thought I’d ever write.
The short version is this: Councilwoman Maureen Richardson got into a heated discussion with Jennifer Schnaars. Mrs. Schnaars is both the Human Resources head for the Town of Monroe and Supervisor Tony Cardone’s campaign treasurer.
How Mrs. Schnaars is supposed to be an impartial figure in processing Human Resources issues involving the Supervisor has not been explained by the Town.
Then again, given how compromised the Town of Monroe Ethics Board is — filled with former United Monroe members — this probably shouldn’t be a surprise.
Councilwoman Richardson told The Monroe Gazette in a statement that she tried speaking with Mrs. Schnaars to stress the importance of properly processing her HR complaint against Supervisor Cardone and others. Mrs. Schnaars, at this time, has not responded to requests for comment.
The conversation grew combative. Said the Councilwoman, “I regret entertaining it and perpetuating it.”
At some point during that discussion, Councilman Rubber Stamp, aka Councilman Scancarello, interjected and got into Councilwoman Richardson’s face.
After screaming at her and calling her disgusting (video of the incident may be forthcoming), Mr. Scancarello — a grown ass man — violently shoved his shoulder into Councilwoman Richardson.
Now, I don’t know about you, but if you’re a grown ass man, and you put your hands (or shoulder) on a woman — any woman — there should be consequences.
It is not known at this time if Councilwoman Richardson will press charges, but a police report was filed.
However, we can report that Mrs. Richardson did receive medical attention for the injury at a local emergency room that was sustained during Mr. Scancarello’s physical assault on her.
Since this is the same Town Board that has not yet denounced Dorey Houle’s antisemitic campaign for the New York State Conservative Party Ballot, it’s unlikely the Town Board will condemn Mr. Scancarello’s violent actions.
We can also report that, at this evening’s Town of Monroe Board meeting (June 17th, 2024), Supervisor Cardone will attempt to pass a resolution further limiting Councilwoman Richardson’s ability to serve her constituents. This resolution is item 8.10, “Establishing Points of Contacts for Consultant.”
No information about this item has been made public prior to the meeting.
Residents with concerns about the behavior of their Town officials are encouraged to attend tonight’s meeting at 7pm, over at Town Hall: 1465 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, NY 10950.
I will not be there due to illness, but I’ll make sure to have a write-up on the meeting as soon as possible.
More information on this incident will be provided as soon as possible.
